The cheapest toy in the world

All the money spent on fun toys, educational toys, and she chose to play with...?

Dinner at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe

Lazy to travel far, so we at at Xin Wang, at the nearby Sun Plaza Shopping Centre. Looking at Jolie sitting on the baby chair, I realised how much she has grown. A few months ago, eating out can be quite frustrating as she can't sit up by herself and she won't sit in her pram. So we have to take turns to carry her while the other eat alone. Now we just have to ask for a baby chair and she'll sit there by herself. Well, she'll still get cranky after awhile as demand that we carry her, but at least we have a little more free time on our hands now! :)

After dinner we ordered this Mango dessert, which turned out to be this huge mountain of everything Mango! Haha, it's so big that Cobby and I started digging on both sides and dug out a tunnel below. Haha, fun...

That's all, another snippet of our mundane life. :)

Books to Read...

Yeah! Two of my favourite authors released new books! Can't wait to read them! Unfortunately the books only came in HUGE hard cover versions, which I totally hate. Perhaps I should wait awhile more, maybe the smaller, soft cover versions would come out later?

Crocs Clearance Sale

Yes I was tempted before, but I don't own a pair of Crocs as I couldn't make myself fork out such amount of money for a pair of rubber slippers. But when I heard that Crocs was having a clearance sale, I thought this could be my last chance before the company close down for good.

So we headed down to Changi Airport Terminal 3 for our dinner, and coincidentally the sale was just next to TCC, the place we decided to dine! Haha... it's fate...

So I looked around and decided on a pair for myself. I actually saw the same pair a few months ago at a Crocs store, but I didn't buy as I already have a pair of slippers. I wanted to wait till my old pair wear out, but the damn Made In China slippers was SO DURABLE! We bought it in 2006 in China and it's still as good as new! (Just a little dirty) Anyway, I'm very happy with my new slippers! It's so comfortable and it looks great too! It feels like I could walk forever in them... :)

I thought I get Jolie a pair too, a bigger size one so that she can wear it when she starts walking. I spotted a pink camouflage one in the wagon and it's perfect!

And it's the LAST ONE, so I held on to it for dear life. As I was looking around, the women around me was talking to their friends as they peer at Jolie's pink crocs, "eh look, they got printed ones, wonder where she got it..." I smiled inside and thought, "Hahaha... No more for you cause I got the last one! Hohoho..."

When I was paying for it, the cashier said, "OH, so you got the Cinderella shoes!! Everybody was asking for it, so you got the last one!" Wah I tell you I felt SO SHIOK!! YEAH I got the last one! Neah, neah neah neah neah.... Yah very childish but it felt good, really.

So anyway, today is the last day for the sale. Hope everybody find something nice like I did! :D

The Day Jolie Fell Down

The morning started just like any other day, I would put Jolie on my bed with me when she wakes up so that I can catch a few more winks before I get up. Disaster strikes just as I was ready to get up. I turned around to get a hanky for her and suddenly I heard a loud THUD!

One moment she was sitting cross legged on the beg, the next second she was on the floor! That split second my blood froze as I saw her hit the laminate floor head first. I remember frantically thinking, "Oh my god, please baby, please cry!", then a flood of relief followed as she let out a loud wail. But the relief was short lived as blood flowed from her mouth!!!

OhMyGod.OhMyGod.OhMyGod.OhMyGod.OhMyGod.OhMyGod.OhMyGod.

I was panicking! I wanted to see if it's her mouth bleeding or if she's vomiting blood or what!? But she was screaming away and wouldn't let me check, by then my T-shirt sleeve and her pyjamas was stained with blood. I quickly bring her to the kitchen, soak a hanky with ice water and let her suck on it. I think it brought her a little relief so she sucked the hanky willingly.

By then I was an emotional wreck. I was scared, in shock, and most of all, GUILTY!!! I hugged her and was screaming and crying together with her, I kept repeating "I'M SORRY BABY! I'M A BAD MOTHER! I'M SORRY BABY! I'M A BAD MOTHER!"

I called Cobby and he said he'll come back immediately to bring her to the doctor, but awhile later her bleeding stopped, she was smiling again and I wonder if we're over reacting. Cobby said that we'll bring her to let the doctor check her out anyway, just in case.

The doctor gave her an OK, but said that we have to monitor her for 3 days and said that the important thing is to not let it happen again! You don't have to tell me twice! I was so relieved that she's fine. After we got home Cobby went back to work.

Baby feeling much better...

We were supposed to go to mother in law's place for dinner, so in the late afternoon, I decided to put Jolie in her pram and take her to Toa Payoh via MRT!

This is Jolie's first time taking the MRT! She was very excited when she got on board the train. She kept looking around, trying to catch the eye of people around her. When she does she would flash her smile at her target and I could almost see little hearts, butterflies and sunshine float over and instantly make the other person smile too.

There was a big guy sitting next to us and I was worried that he would be angry when Jolie touched his arm. But surprisingly he gave her a smile and covertly tried to play with her (but i noticed) throughout the trip. So cute...

Well, by the time we got to Mother in law's place her swelling on her lips has gone down, so we decided to not tell her about this incident. Same for my mother, I think it's better to spare them the stress and heartache and also spare me that scolding that I might get for being so careless. I've definitely learnt my lesson today, and what a painful lesson it was.

Walker

I always see an old grandpa bring his grandchild to the playground in the baby walker and I thought, "hey, that's a great idea!" So now that Jolie can move more freely in her walker, I experimented by bringing her walker downstairs one day.

At first I wanted to just let her walk around the void deck. But she kept wanting to walk outside, she I carried her to the nearby badminton court. Initially she looked a little lost by the sudden amount of space for her to run around, but after awhile she became more relaxed and moved around more. I guess it was quite a fun experience for her, but her shoes did get quite dirty. Luckily I let her wear her old shoes instead of the new one. Hoho...

This week I had to survive with my Mama, who's in Hong Kong. ;( But so far I'm quite proud because I managed to cook a few good dinners! On Monday I cooked braised chicken wings and long beans omelet, my very first attempt, and it tasted delicious! Too bad I forgot to take a picture. Today's dinner is, sardines, stir fry prawns with broccoli and winter melon soup. Very happy with the meal!

I think as baby grows bigger, I get to do a little more things around the house. It's still difficult as Jolie would sometimes demand my attention while I'm cooking, but it gets better week by week. :)

Jolie's First Tooth

Yes! After many months of drooling and itchy gums, her first tooth has emerged!

I would check daily by sticking my finger into her mouth and feel for any tooth. On the 15th September, I felt something! At first I thought it was some left over biscuit in her mouth, but then I confirmed that it really is her tooth!

So exciting! I was so happy for her! It's located at the front of her lower gum, the left side. I wanted to take a picture, but it proved impossible as she keep sticking out her tongue! I immediately texted my Sis and Cobby the good news and they were quite estatic too.

Another milestone in Jolie's life... :)

Big Foot

Baby outgrew her shoes already! Mind you, the size she's wearing was for 12 to 18 months old kids, and she's only 7 months old! I thought, OK, we'll just go buy her a new pair. But when we got to the store, we realised that the next size up are actually shoes meant for toddlers for walking, which are more stiff and hard, but we wanted soft fabric shoes for little babies! -_-

Goodness, I think finding shoes for Jolie would be a problem in future. Too bad, both her parents have gigantic feet and had problems buying shoes too. Sorry we passed the 'Bigfoot genes' to you baby! Hahaha...

After searching high and low, we found a pair that not only fits, but it's also nice and soft. And it looks very girlie too! Cute!

On a side note, Jolie's becoming more and more agile on her walker nowadays. She can finally move forward! This is really great as I'm given a little more freedom when she's zooming around the house while I do my work. But most of the time she likes to stay close to me and bang her walker onto the back of my feet. Ouch~! Look out, dangerous driving here...

Happy 29th Birthday

I had a pleasant surprise on the morning of my birthday while I was having my breakfast. Cobby gave me my present! It was a new phone!!!

I really didn't expect it! It's a gorgeous Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot C901! And it's PINK! Well, it state that it's coral, but it looks pink to me. Anyway, super happy! It's slim, it's pink, it's a cyber-shot (5 megapixels)! I love my new phone!

After breakfast we drop baby off at Mom's place and headed to ION shopping centre. We had our lunch at this Japanese restaurant called Sho Teppan. I had Wagyu Beef Sukiyaki and it cost only $20.90, inclusive of rice or noodles and a yummy salad. Cobby had Angus beef Teppanyaki (hot plate) style and it tasted great too! Definitely will go back again.

After lunch we explored the wonderful new ION shopping centre. It's SO BIG but confusing! There's so many shops and we never seem to be walking the same place twice. And it's kind of difficult to find our way to a particular shop without studying the digital directory intensively.

We came across this store called SEPHORA that sells cosmetics, skin care and stuff. Call it a birthday resolution, I wanted to start taking care of myself more and looking better, so I bought an eyeliner, toner and face moisturiser. I've never used eyeliner and toner before, and I don't really moisturise my face, so I want to start doing that now! I was so happy with my purchase that I applied the eyeliner immediately!

After shopping around, we had a little tea break at Gusttimo Di Roma. I love my lined eyes that I had to take a picture! Nice?

I had so much fun that I felt a little sad that the day has ended. Quickly take a few more pictures with my new phone!

But all was forgotten when Jolie reached out to me for a hug when I got back to my Mom's place! What a nice way to end my birthday. :)

The next day Sis called me to wish me a belated birthday and when we got home at night from my Mother-in-law's place, I got a surprise in the fridge! Mom actually went to my place while we were out and placed a cake in my fridge! And it's Coco Exotic from Four Leaves! My favourite! So touched~

When I saw it I felt a little choked up and teary eyed. Mom will be going to Hong Kong on the 14 Sep and I'm missing her already! I LOVE YOU MUMMY!!!

What a great birthday and a fantastic way to end the weekend! Happy!

Shopping with Mom

Got sick of staying at home, so chio Mom to go shopping at Bugis. She wanted to buy a lipstick from Estee Lauder, but ended up getting a make over done by the nice Estee Lauder salesgirl and spending over $200 in cosmetics! Haha... Women's spending craze can be quite scary sometimes.

After walking around, we took a break at TCC and gave Jolie her bottle. I've never been to the cafe there, and it's actually quite nice and comfortable!

Jolie destroying the cafe's plant while we were waiting for our drinks...

Our tea break... Mine was the chocolate and Nutella milk shake. Super rich, creamy and oh so yummy! But I think the milk gave me a slight diarrhoea later as I'm a little lactose intolerant. But definitely a must try! YUMS!

After that Mom and I parted ways and Jolie and I headed to my MIL's place while my Mom went home. I had fun and I think I'll really miss this when Mom goes to HK for 3 weeks at the end of the month.

Poop Poop Poop

Usually Jolie would only poop once or twice a day. So after she pooped 4 times, I think she has diarrhoea. So I waited for Cobby to come home before heading off to the clinic.

My goodness, there was only one Doctor on duty that night instead of the usual three, so we waited for more than an hour just to see the Doctor! We got so hungry we had to buy a sandwich and eat at the clinic while we waited. Sad~

So baby ate the medicine and her diarrhoea got better. Doc think that it's the millions of stuff that she puts into her mouth! So other than the diarrhoea meds, doc also gave us probiotics to strengthen her tummy.

Sunday Outing

Sunday was Germaine Chua's full month party! Germaine is the princess of a family friend and she's so precious! Jolie having fun with grandpa. (my Dad)

This is Germaine's big brother Damien and their cousin. Isn't she pretty?? I also love the little sofa that they bought for the kids. So cute...

Just nice for Jolie...

Little Germaine sleeping peacefully just before bursting out screaming. The stupid confinement lady suddenly yanked away her blanket when she saw me wanting to take her picture.

Baby Germaine with her Mommy...

After hanging out at their place for the afternoon, I suggested to Cobby that we go visit the Marina Barrage with my parents. They always talked about it but never had the chance to go. I think it was the 1st time my Dad went out with us and Jolie, also, it has been quite awhile since Dad went into the City, so we all had a real good time!

After walking around and visiting the exhibition area, we stayed and had dinner at the 7 Storey Restaurant there. Erm... over rated really. But since I wasn't expecting much anyway, so it's alright. So ends our day. Tiring but fun!
