A Long Day

Bro wanted to give us a treat today, so we went to Red Star Restaurant 红星酒家 for dim sum. Mom said that we ate there as a child, but I can't remember really.

I love the place! Very old school. SUPER SUPER crowded, since its Sunday morning. But we only queued for about 15mins and another 5-10min for people to clear the table. After that, the food carts filled with steaming hot dim sum were buzzing around and we quickly filled our table (and our stomach). Even Jolie munched non-stop! Highly recommended for everybody!

After brunch, we drove Dad to That CD Shop at Orchard to buy his classical music CD, and I finally got my GLEE music CDs!! YEAH~! I LOVE GLEE!! (listening while I'm blogging)

In the afternoon, Cobby bought home a new mattress for Jolie. This one has padding surrounding the mattress, so it's great for small children who may roll around when they sleep. :) It's pink!

Jolie doing quality check... PASS!

Sigh, as we dismantle and packed up Jolie's baby cot, we can't help but feel a little nostalgia. It seems like yesterday when we just set up the bed, anticipating the arrival of our little baby girl...

After going down memory lane, we searched for a place to have dinner for the night. We found this place from HungryGoWere.Com Turns out to be a pretty nice place! Quiet, not crowded, decent food, not bad! It's inside the Turf Club Riding Centre, so you probably see people learning to ride during the day.

Jolie loved it of course, she could run around like mad and even sit on the floor because it's so deserted in the evening. She even invited Daddy to sit with her, so cute...

So ends another Sunday. A little sad, will have to study hard for the next 2 weeks as my Japanese test coming soon. :P

MRT Ride

OK, I've reached the stage where I just can't really control the little monkey anymore. She wanted to stand by herself in the MRT ride. So it's either force her to sit down on the seat and make her scream and cry and possibly vomit on the train, or I just let her go and have her fun.

Decided to just let her go and watch out for her by sitting really close to the edge of my seat. So if she falls, I'll be there to catch her. Turns out that she's pretty good as balancing herself in the moving train. I guess I've underestimated her again. She would bend her knees a little and make funny sounds like "Woooaahh..." while she balance herself.

Most of the time she would cling on to the railing, so it's quite safe that way. But once she's comfortable she would try her luck and step carefully further away from me.

Of course, I would pull her back to be within my reach, but one time she moved so fast that a young man jumped up from his seat to quickly hold her, fearing that she would fall. I thought that was so sweet of him. Jolie of course, was the star, making almost everyone in the train look and smile at her.

Sigh, as she grows bigger, my reign of control gets weaker. But I'm proud of how physically well coordinated she is getting day by day. My little healthy monkey!

Masked CoCo

Was SUPER sick the other day. I think Jolie passed her germs to me. My sinus was all blocked up and hurting like hell, my throat hurts too and was as dry as the desert. I was just a walking germ. So I brought Jolie to my Mom's place so that I could go see the doctor.

Naturally, since I'm so sick, it's only right for me to wear a surgical mask right?

You should see the looks I get while walking on the street. Everybody was staring like I'm an alien. Maybe they were worried that I have H1N1 or something. Haha... I mean, in Hong Kong, Taiwan or Japan, it's so common to see people wearing surgical masks. Maybe it's not a common practice here, but I thing anybody who is not feeling well should wear a mask so that they don't go around spreading germs to everybody. It's the ethical thing to do, like sneezing into a tissue paper and washing your hands frequently!

Pixar Exhibition at Science Centre

Visited the Pixar exhibition at the Science Centre on Sunday. It's really fun! Last week here already, if you haven't seen it, you should go take a look. There are original drawings, sketches and models used for making all the famous Pixar movies that we have watched.

I wished that they would put some of the sketches on sale! But then if they do so, I'm sure it would be bloody expensive. They do print some of the drawings on plain, boring, al-cheapo T-shirts. But the designs were so boring! Their Marketing personnel should be shot. After coming out of the exhibition, you should bank on the feel good feeling and the re-newed passion for all the characters the customers have seen and throw out all possible merchandise! Anyway, I only got a cute tissue box.

We also paid for the photo. I thought it was cute that they digitally add Woody onto our hands. I was a little disappointed though, seeing the ratatouille background, wouldn't it be even cuter if they put Remy the rat onto our hands??

OK lah, seeing that Jolie for once was actually looking at the camera, I guess it makes a good family portrait. :)

Happy Father's Day 2010

Dad suggested that we have seafood dinner at East Coast Park for Father's day celebration. So we headed there earlier so that Jolie can play at the beach.

Lucky Jolie

Jolie is such a lucky girl, everybody showers her with all sorts of gifts and toys. Some of which can even make an adult jealous! Her ah-ma recently bought her a rocking horse! Looks so fun, I wished I could have one that's my size! You can even put down the wheels and roll her around the house!

I noticed that Jolie likes to hide in cozy places such as behind the curtain or some corner. So I wanted to buy something like a tent or a house. Where she can enjoy some personal space. So I bought this.

So fun right! It even comes with plastic balls. Well, it was much bigger than I expected, (I can sit inside comfortably) so my living room space has been greatly reduced. But I guess it would be more practical as Jolie is quite tall, so she should be quite comfortable.

I think what parents buy for their children is a reflection of what they wished they could have as a child. Now if you would excuse me, I need to go take a nap inside Jolie's tent. :)

OH MY GOD...

Look what the little monster did! She chewed off the tip of the rubber straw of her drinking cup!

Did she swallow it? I have no idea...

IT Show 2010

Dad told me his plans to cancel his broadband at home and use public computers like those in the library to access the free internet. So I suggested that I buy him a laptop instead so that he can access free internet via Wireless@SG. Cobby also planned to buy a GPS for his car and a new laptop, so off we go!

Cobby took Friday off just to go to the IT show. It was quite fun to have an extra day off as we left Jolie at my Mom's place and went off to have a fantastic lunch at this Italian restaurant at Millenia Walk. After lunch we headed to Suntec and went straight in and bought the GPS. No surprise, IT WAS SO CROWDED!!!

But Cobby did his homework so it was an easy buy. Next we bought a new Asus laptop for Cobby and after much consideration, found a Acer laptop at the most amazing price of $699 for Dad. I wanted to buy a printer that has:
1. Laser printing
2. wireless printing
3. Duplex printing

Unfortunately, we couldn't find one that meet our all needs. But we did go back the next day and found a compromise. An HP, wireless, laser printer. :)

OK, burnt a huge hole in our wallet! I told dad that the laptop is a combination of Father's Day, birthday, Christmas gift! No more for the rest of the year! Haha... But he seemed quite happy with his new toy.

Of course, Cobby is another happy fellow with a new laptop and new GPS! We had alot of fun programming the GPS and listening to her voice while we drive. OK, sometimes she gives funny commands such as "keep right, turn left". HUH??? Soon we'll be able to drive further up north to Malaysia!
