CATS 2009

With the swine flu, we were expecting the Esplanade to conduct temperature screening, so we reached the theatre more than 30mins earlier. Surprisingly, there wasn't any temperature screening, just a simple contact tracing. I was surprised at the number of foreigners watching the show. We saw Japanese, Koreans, Chinese and Caucasians bringing the whole family along.

Anyway, the show was great! As compared to Les Miserables or Phantom of the Opera, there was definitely more dancing in Cats, which was fabulous!

But there was some parts which was a little slow. The group was from England I think, so their accent was quite strong and many times I don't really know what on earth they were singing about! But overall, it was a great show and I enjoyed it tremendously!

My favourite part was "Mr Mistoffelees" where Adrian Ricks did a solo dance. FANTASTIC! Favourite song was definitely the whole group singing and dancing to "Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats". It was so upbeat and catchy! I was humming the tune even after the show. Cobby's favourite was "Memory" and he's still singing it at home now. :)

I love it that the Cats (cast) would, during the show, occasionally appear among the audience suddenly and prowl around! During the interval, some of the cats even mingle among the audience, which made everybody, especially the kids super happy. They would be go around like cats, prowling and meowing.

After the show I was humming the song and feel like dancing! I was very thirsty, so we went to the Max Brenner for a cup of super delicious Venezuela milk chocolate and a giant cookie! So rich and chocolately!

What a great way to end a great afternoon!

Max Payne

When I heard that Mark Wahlberg was starring in a new movie, Max Payne, I was quite excited to catch it. I'm a big fan of Wahlberg and the trailer seems to look like some supernatural, demonic kind of story line, which looks quite promising!

Unfortunately, what started out as a show with a promising story line and super cool special effects turned out to be a total disappointment! Thank goodness I stil have Mark Wahlberg to drool for, if not the show would have been a total waste of time.

So if you're not that into Mark Wahlberg, I would suggest that you don't waste your money on this show. Sorry Mark!

I Love WALL.E

If you havn't watched this show, GO WATCH IT QUICK!!!!

I think this must be one of the BEST SHOW this year. I was quite skeptical about it at first, I mean, what, robots? But the show really blew me away. It's SO NICE LOH...!

EVERYBODY from 3-100 years old would fall in love with WALL.E. It's funny, cute, romantic, touching and action packed! For a show that doesn't have much conversations, this movie has a great story behind it, perhaps that's what makes it such a good movie, rather then just another mindless cartoon you catch on a weekend.

Other than the lovable WALL.E, the other characters are very interesting and lovable too! I'm trying not to reveal too much about the show, so please for your own sake, go see the movie!

DISNEY's WALL.E

I watched Cloverfield...

I think the movie aired on the big screen sometime in January, but we didn't catch it. So we rented the DVD the other day.

I must say, I really enjoyed it!

Well, we knew very little about the movie, so we're hoping that it didn't turn out to be some silly monster movie with a typical stupid ending. In fact, Cobby said that if the movie turned out to be a stupid one, we'll break the disc in half... Then I have to remind him that it's a rental, so we can't do that.

Anyways...

Like I said, I really enjoyed it!

You know how big action movies are like right, every story was shown through the eyes of the the hero, which usually is some dude in the military, some cop, some scientist, well, just experts who knew what they were dealing with. Yawn...

So for once here's a movie from the point of view of people like you and I. You know, the screaming people who are always in the back ground, not knowing what or why this is happening.

The ending is not what I expected, but... I like it. It's different. It's shown mostly through a moving camera (think blair witch project) so in some way, I'm glad that I didn't see it on the big screen. Or else, CONFIRM PUKE. Yup, so go check it out the Cloverfield DVD. Not bad.

Iron Man - Must Watch!

Just watched Iron Man yesterday and I must say... IT WAS GREAT!!! It has been awhile since I've watched a movie that made me repeatedly exclaim, "What A Great Show!" The casting is excellent!

Tony Stark, aka Iron Man is a brilliant yet typically bad boy character that has learnt his lesson and wants to make things right again. Robert Downey Jr, a talented actor who's always in trouble with drugs, is the absolutely perfect candidate to play Tony Stark!

He's funny, witty and if you have watched the show, his body is super buff! Sexy! Haha...

I also love the on-screen chemistry between Robert D Jr and the other characters like Lt. Colonel James Rhodes and especially Pepper Potts, his assistant. I love the way they talk to each other and of course, the little sexual tension between them. Ooo..!

My favourite part would be the initial stage when he's experimenting with the suit, there's alot of funny moments and the final "WHOO HOO!!" feeling as he flew off into the sky.

OK, I feel like a parrot that keep repeating itself, but it really is a great show, so if you have not watched it, GO WATCH IT AT THE CINEMA! Don't wait for the DVD, the feeling is definitely different.

Save the cheerleader – Save the world!

For all you fans out there, you know what the title means….

HEROES RULE!

Have you seen the show? Sorry to say that Singapore is only airing the first season, so I have to be very careful not to read anything while surfing the net for photos of the casts. But I wasn't careful enough. I thought that the show has a great range of characters with superpowers in it, but apparently it was only the tip of the iceberg. There are so many more Heroes characters coming up! SO EXCITING… It’s like X-Men, but much more realistic, not as cheesey, and oh so cool.

I’m not gonna list down every character, too many, too loh-soh… You wanna know more, Wikipedia’s info is overwhelming. But beware of spoilers – especially if you are still catching the weekly TV series of season one.

Cobby suggest that we go buy the whole DVD set. But… then there would be no more suspense! In fact, I fear I might never leave the house until I finish the whole set. So… better not.

I tried to choose ONE favourite character, but I can’t! So the below would be some of my favourite ones for now…

Claire Bennet

The pretty cheerleader with the power of cellular regeneration. Break her, cut her, burn her, even stab a branch into her skull! Don't worry, she’ll be just fine.

Peter Petrelli

Power mimicry that results in multiple acquired abilities. He just need to be near another superhuman and to possess their powers. So that makes him very powerful indeed.

Hiro Nakamura

The super cute and cheerful nerd who can bend space and time, allowing teleportation, time manipulation, and time travel. Super cool. So far my favourite would be Hiro. The happy go lucky Japanese nerd is so far the most receptive to his powers and is determined to do good with it. To me, that is the most important factor to being a Hero.

Same question, if you have the power to control space and time, what would you do? Would you rob the bank? Or save the world? Honestly, I wouldn’t know how to answer that myself...
