Assistant General Manager

Just got a message from sis that one of our KTV kaki is getting promoted to become ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER and we're celebrating her promotion this Sunday.

Wah....

有眼不知 Orh Yee Orh (泰山)....

My impression of her is a pretty, crazy, cute, funny gal... Didn't expect that at work - she's an Assistant General Manager quality type of person for a major cosmetic brand in Singapore.

Well... as I always say, some people are very different at work and at play. So. There.

Car Picnic

Yeah! One of the pros of having a car would be the comfy ride to work instead of squeezing with the crowd every morning. But since Cobby has to reach work at 8am and I at 8.30am, we have to leave the house at 7am. Which means... horror of horrors... NO TIME FOR BREAKFAST!

So the 1st few mornings was pretty miserable. Hungry, sleepy and boring traffic jams really got to us and I was considering go to work myself instead. Last night we stopped by Sun Plaza and decided to make breakfast the next morning. So we bought some frozen hot dogs and a themos flask!

This morning, while he was washing up, I boiled the water and poured it over the hot dog. While the dogs are heating up, I made the coffee into the themos flask. Then I cut open the hot dog bread, put in the hot dogs, add cheese and onions, pop them into the toaster and went to wash up. When I got dressed, Cobby had taken them out and placed them into a tupperware and we're ready to go!

So we had our little car picnic... yummy, toasty, cheesey hot dogs with onions. Then a nice cup of hot coffee. All while driving to work! Talk about making full use of time. So instead of dozing off behind the wheels, we were eating, drinking, chatting and laughing while listening to the morning radio. It's nice! We should do it again. Hmm what should we have tomorrow morning?

Sowing the Seeds...

I've been saving up some money and recently I had a sudden inspiration to make my money work harder for me. So... you are currently reading the blog of Miss CoCo, owner of APPLE INC.

Ok fine... maybe not the whole company but yeah technically I DO own part of the company since I bought some of their shares. So all you people put there please buy more Apple products this coming festive season ok? Whahaha...

Scardy-Cat

So bored with my work! Everyday I dream of staying at home, sleeping late, bake something, watch TV and do something that I want to do. I wonder what am I afraid of? What's stopping me?

Birthday Reapings

Happy! This year’s ‘harvest’ was definitely better then I expected. It’s a strange feeling. The day before, I felt very calm and at peace with myself. I don’t feel excited or nervous that my birthday was coming. I didn’t expect presents or celebrations and I felt perfectly ok about it. I remember thinking to myself, maybe I am growing up. Haha…

So I happily went to work in the morning, feeling happy as I smile inwardly, it’s my birthday today. It’s MY day and no one can ruin it, not knowing that a quiet surprise was waiting for me in office.

The office was quiet as usual, what greeted me was a bright orange paper bag with the words Shermay's Cooking School on my desk. Presents!

Wait… Cooking School? Don’t tell me they bought some cheesy apron or mittens. I read the card, peeked into the bag and squeal in delight as I pulled out a fondue set!

It even comes with complimentary candle lights and chocolate! Can’t wait to try it with Cobby…!

Later I went for a meeting which ended earlier then usual. I was irritated as my manager dragged on nearing the end. Then I found out that it was because they have prepared a birthday cake for me!

But since the meeting ended early, we had to wait around for the others to join us. Haha… Ooo the cake was nice. I took the afternoon off but I had time to kill before I can leave at 12.45pm, so I hung out at Some’s desk cause I had zero mood to work anyway.

Sis called me when I was hanging out at Some’s and decided to take the afternoon off too at the last minute. Haha… we met up at New York New York at CitiLink and had yummy lunch there. Please try their fried cheese sticks, its gooooood…. Then we went to karaoke at Marina Square’s K Box! Haha so shiok! This must be the first time singing on a weekday afternoon. We went our separate ways after that; she went for her dance class while I met up with Cobby for dinner at Orchard.

Wah… It’s been so long since I’ve been to Orchard! Good thing that Cobby’s late, then I have more time to shop around. Wanted to buy something for myself but unfortunately couldn’t get anything I like. Either no size or just no feel. Hmm… really must take leave to do some serious shopping sometime.

We had a nice dinner at Shimbashi restaurant at Paragon Shopping Centre, where they specialize in freshly made soba. How good is good? I don’t like soba. But I like their soba. Enough said. Yum.

So after dinner we went home and I finally get to unwrap my present that Cobby gave me! He bought it since Sunday but I wanted to open on the actual day. The packaging looks big, so I thought it was a PSP, but it turned out to be a limited edition Nintendo DS Lite! It’s so beautiful in a deep red colour and even comes with a matching pouch! Guess what… he bought the Ratatouille game! Words fail me as I kept screaming “whao!” “Cool!” and “Thanks dear!” Then I fell into a trance as I started playing immediately.
So ends my birthday. Didn’t expect much in the morning, but ended up with so much in the evening. Sis say would be passing me my presents in the coming weekend, something to look forward too!

Successful Beef Stew

Cobby suggested making beef stew on Sunday. I didn’t make it before, so I called mummy for the recipe while driving to the wet market. Success! As tasty as mummy’s creation! I’m getting good at this. Cobby was so impressed and happy as he gobbled down the meal and the compliments kept coming. * Proud* I have a feeling that we would be cooking this dish quite often. :)

The best thing is that it was so easy to make!

Main ingredient
Beef (Shin) 300 grams
Carrot 1 large stick, chopped
Radish Half a stick, chopped

Spices & Flavoring (A)
Black peppercorn cracked slightly with the flat of your knife
Cloves
Star anise
1 cinnamon stick
1 tsp Five spice powder
6 slices of ginger
4 cloves of garlic
1 tsp salt
1tsp sugar
Sesame oil

Additional Flavoring
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp dark soya sauce
1 tsp of cornstarch + water

1. Briefly boil the beef in water for a minute and drain.
2. Pour fresh water into the pot of beef so that the water covers the meat with an addition of another 1 inch of water on top.
3. Add in everything in Spices & Flavoring (A) and boil in high heat for ½ hour

4. Lower the fire and simmer for another ½ hour
5. Add your carrots and radish and continue to simmer until it turns soft. (estimated – 20mins) Add water if necessary.
6. Stuff to be added when carrots and radish has turned soft:
a. Oyster sauce for a more intense flavor
b. Dark soya sauce for that rich brown colour
c. Cornstarch mixed with water to thicken the gravy
7. Serve with steamy fluffy rice and serve!

I love this dish! You just pop everything into the pot, switch on the timer, and walk away! The end result was so impressive, yet it didn’t even take much effort from the cook. Hahaha, cheers.

Fun Filled Saturday

Whoo Hoo!

Last Saturday sis, Sylvia and I went to the Wet Wet Wild at Pasir Ris Down Town East. It was fun!

We're supposed to meet 10am at the MacDonald’s outside Wet Wet Wild, so I got out of the house at 8.30am so that I wouldn't be late. What a beautiful morning! I breathe in the fresh morning air and felt the gentle morning sun on my skin. When was the last time I was out at this time of the day?? Usually Cobby and I either sleep late on weekends or travel around by car, no wonder this feels so unfamiliar and yet so good!

I didn't want to buy the huge Saturday newspaper and my earphone has unfortunately died... so I had absolutely nothing to do throughout the whole duration from Sembawang to Pasir Ris! -_- so bored....

Finally I reached Pasir Ris! I used to live in Pasir Ris, so it felt really nostalgic as I waited for the bus. I loved living there. How do I describe it? It's a very beautiful, relaxing and comfortable town to live in. Abit far though.... haha...

So that morning was one of those rare days where I arrived right on time, with my tummy growling all the way. Haha... I called my sis only to find out that they have not left her home yet!!! Grrr... My tummy was growling in protest, so I sat down and started breakfast without them. Yum... I lurve hash browns.... When I was finished with my Big Breakfast the crowd was starting to come in and hungry people were eyeing the empty seats I was occupying. Stress... Saved by sis and Sylvia’s appearance! (finally!)

After breakfast was non stop fun at the wet wet wild! We went on the slides, float around the waters, the wave pool and even the Jacuzzi! Time flies and suddenly it was 1pm! Hungry sia...
We ate yummy chicken rice before going back to sis place to pick up her laptop. Her Sony laptop adaptor died and we wanted to get an exchange at the Sony shop at Wisma Atrium.

By the time we left the house it was almost 3pm! So sis suggested that we have coffee at this cute little coffee shop near the Punggol MRT station. This is a tiny shop patroned mainly by bus drivers. We sat there, enjoying the breeze while we chit chat, drank coffee and ate some snacks. So shiok!

Wah! Orchard road is so bustling on a Saturday! How can anyone shop with all these human traffic?! I bought a new earphone for my handphone when I got to the Sony shop. $65.00!

**Fainted**

So expensive! Sigh, but I bought it anyway :P Went to Kinokuniya next and sis bought this two arts and craft book. So cute... I told her to make it and I'll sell it online. Hahaha... I bought this Donna Hay book of chocolates. Just looking at the photos makes me smile! Can't wait to try them out! I also bought a travel guide book for Paris... Hehe... time to plan!

Cobby joined us for dinner at Baker's Inn, Vivo City. GOOD FOOD! The pasta was excellent and the desserts were heavenly! I had Aglio Olio with Tiger Prawns and a chocolate soufflé. Sis ordered a warm chocolate cake that oozes chocolate fudge when u break it open with your fork... *quiver* Soooo goooood......

We gobbled down out food with relish and finally said goodbye. What a day! Good fun, good company, good shopping and great food! When can we do it again? :)
