Jolie Visits Disneyland!

Today Jolie visits Disneyland! We decided to go early in the morning so that we can be back by afternoon. I wonder if Jolie knew that she would soon be seeing her beloved Mickey Mouse in person!

It's a public holiday, so sis could accompany us there. The best way was by train, so we hopped on and played Angry Bird on Sis's iPhone all the way. Jolie seemed to enjoy it, she would clap each time the bird manage to hit the target.

Time flies when you're having fun, before we know it, we've already reached our stop, in fact, we almost forgot to alight! We next hopped on the Mickey train and Jolie immediately recognize the Mickey handrails.

We're here! Jolie squealed in delight as she spotted Mickey on top of the banner.

It was very sunny, so I quickly bought a cute cap for Jolie, she likes it too! By the way I was wearing one of the T-shirts that I just bought.

When we arrived all the Disney characters were out for everyone to take photos with. But the queue for Mickey was SOOO long! We opted to take photo with Pluto instead. Besides, Jolie didn't mind, she was just as excited to see Pluto live in 'person'.

In case you're wondering about my crazy-woman-hair, it was windy!

We didn't really eat breakfast, so we took refuge from the heat in the cool comforts of an air-conditioned restaurant. Their waffles and fruits are Mickey Mouse shaped! So cute!

It was really sunny and hot, and I was worried that Jolie wouldn't be able to handle the heat. So we chose all the rides that was either sheltered or indoors.

We bee-lined to our favourite ride, The Pooh Bear Hunny Pot ride! So shiok, got air-con...

Next was the Cinderella's Carousel. She wanted to get out even before the ride starts, so in the end I had to sit behind her on the horse. Squeezy, but it's the only way she'll stay on the horse. I think the heat was making her tired, she was getting more and more cranky.

I think the last time I rode the Dumbo ride, I was just a child in Tokyo Disneyland. I never rode it again as I thought it was too kiddy, so this time I have the perfect excuse to get on it again. :)

We also watched a 4D show. Jolie wouldn't put the glasses on, so she didn't really watch it. But Sis and I sure enjoyed it!

After lunch, Jolie was getting tired, so Sis suggested that we make a move. But I just can't leave without letting Jolie take a picture with Mickey! I mean, we flew all the way here just for her to meet her beloved Mouse! Lucky lucky! The Mickey gang was out again, so we queued for Mickey while sweating away in the freaking hot and humid weather. Seriously, I think they should arrange the photo taking sessions in an air-conditioned studio! This way everybody would be comfortable right?!

So finally it was our turn. We looked sweaty and oily, but Jolie's face lid up when she saw Mickey. That alone was enough to make it all worth it. :)

By the time we reached the train station, I can't take it anymore. My legs were aching like mad, not forgetting my ankle was starting to swell up again. Must.Sit.Down. Jolie came over to join me when she saw me sit on the steps.

Poor baby must have been SO tired. The moment we got on the train, she was like, KO!

She slept through the whole train ride and even continued sleeping while Sis and I ate at this fabulous noodle restaurant, 喜宴. It was a little difficult to eat while carrying her, but I managed to finish a whole meal while she slept in my arms!

She woke up when we were almost finished and gave us a groggy smile. I wondered if she dreamt of Mickey Mouse and flying elephants? They say that children wouldn't have much memories of their life before 3 years old, I wonder if Jolie would remember anything from her very 1st trip to Disneyland?

Jolie's First Hong Kong Trip

I'm back! The Hong Kong trip with Jolie has been quite alot of fun, and very different from my usual trips overseas. I guess when you are travelling with a small child, you have to give and take a little. But my objective has never been to visit every tourist attraction, I just wanted to bring Jolie to Hong Kong so that she can spend some time with my sis, visit Mickey Mouse, and just let her explore a different environment altogether. Any other activities met (such as shopping) would be a bonus to me. :)

The flight there has been quite disastrous. She was crying and screaming so hard in the beginning that she threw up on the seat. Thank god the stewardess was very kind and cleaned up pretty well so the plane did not stink. Thankfully, after the merlion moment she grew tired and slept the rest of the way to HK. But her pretty outfit was ruined, so she greeted her grandpa at the airport in only a t-shirt and her diapers. -_-

Sis place was great! OK it was typically small, but the view was spectacular. From any window in the home, you can see the famous Hong Kong harbor view. I could just stare at it all day long and never get sick of it. So this is how the rich lives!

Jolie posing in her PJs and her beloved Teddy.

At the wet market downstairs. We go there every other day to buy fresh ingredients for Jolie's porridge.

At the Kowloon Park just downstairs. Jolie joining people doing their morning exercise.

Enjoying ridiculously delicious egg tarts in the park.

There's even an aviary in the park!

Grandpa's precious.

After her nap we went to Yuen Long (元朗) to meet Auntie Ting Ting, a family friend.

Auntie Ting Ting totally smitten by Jolie's charm. :)

We then headed to my utmost favorite eatery. We always make an effort to visit there when ever we're in HK. This is my favorite, beef innards hor fun. :P~

Vegetarians look away! This is the super sinful, but oh so delicious, fried pork large intestine. This alone was worth the trip!

When I'm in HK, I ALWAYS order their ice lemon tea, or 冻柠茶. Seemingly such a simple drink served everywhere in HK, but I just can't find the same taste in Singapore!

Shortly after the meal, I left Jolie in my parents care and travelled to Time Square to meet my sis and friends for dinner. It was fun hanging out with other adults for a change.

After dinner we headed to Whampoa (黄埔) for our favorite dessert store.

My order was like tao suan with coconut milk and ice shaving. YUMZ

Their Mua Chee is super good too. A must try!

A sweet ending to a long day!

No plans today, so while Jolie naps, Dad brought me to an eatery he found, called 锅贴大王. My my, their pan fried dumpling were really good! The meat was very juicy, and the skin, crispy at the bottom, chewy on the top. A perfect 锅贴!

Interesting, in HK, instead of sugar syrup, they put sugar onto the hot Tao Huey. It immediately melts into a delicious sugar syrup! Smart!

Walked around the area. Found a kitty napping on a pile of woks. CUTE!

A store selling coconuts for wedding use. Interesting!

Jolie loves my sister's bedroom slippers.

Going to the park for MacDonald's breakfast!

Later in the day we went to Wong Dai Sin Temple. (王大仙)A must to ask for blessings!

I always buy a lucky windmill for Jolie.

I can't remember what's the name of this hawker centre, but they serve the most delicious pork chop noodles! They were so generous of their crispy, tender pork chops! Look at the huge bowl of meat!

After the yummy noodles we hung around the area. Jolie played with her new ball there.

Having Tau Huey. Super smooth, fresh and sweet! Jolie can't get enough of it!

Dad made some Singapore style fried carrot cake while we're there. Haha, very patriotic.

Decided to go shopping by myself! Went to Mong Kok to jalan jalan. Nothing much there, should have gone to Garden street. But it was fun and I bought 2 cute T-shirts.

Ice Cuppa from Starbucks and stinky tofu from the street store! East meets west tea break!

Only went I got home that night did I realised that my ankle had swelled up like a balloon! Totally freaked out because it didn't hurt. Was it a sprain? NO idea. Put my foot up and refrained from moving too much for the rest of the night because we're going Disneyland tomorrow!

Tune in for more...
