Jolie's 1st Birthday Party

It's 7am in the morning and Jolie is still sounds asleep. I went over to her room and touched her hair. She woke up, sat up and gave me a groggy smile while pointing at me, which means she wants to be picked up. When she's in my arms she gave me a big squeeze and kicked her legs. Hey~ someone's in a good mood this morning? Maybe she knows that today is a special day?

After her milk and shower, I dressed her in her 1st outfit of the day! It's the Angel T-Shirt my sis bought for her from Taiwan. It's so cute I was saving it for a special day. It's got baby wings at the back!

I remembered how much she enjoyed eating hotcakes at MacDonald's the other day, so I got Cobby to ta pao for us. She seems to enjoyed it at 1st, but after a few bites, she doesn't want it anymore! Why~ Maybe she only likes it fresh?

My worst fear came true! The cake arrived too early! I totally regretted choosing the 9am to 12noon timing. Should have gone for 12 to 3pm! Worst, our fridge is too small! So we took out the shelves at the side and thankfully, it fits. Phew~~~

Another thing that I'm thankful for, was that Jolie took her morning nap. I was so afraid that she would be so distracted that she wouldn't sleep. If so she'll be throwing tantrums during the party! So she nap about an hour, during which my Mom Bro-in-law and sis arrived to help us decorate the house.

As usual, Sis bought loads of cute stuff for Jolie, which includes a Princess outfit and a Minnie Mouse ears! When Jolie woke up we let her wear them. SO cute!

Unfortunately she doesn't like wearing stuff on her head, so it didn't last long. We quickly let her try on her Princess dress and her pink tiara, and TA-DAH~~

The princess has arrived!

Our sweet Princess!

The balloons and party packs arrived! Whoo Hoo!

The party packs.

The red Mickey Mouse party hats, party blower and the Princess tiara were brought by my Sis. I was so thankful for that because the stupid party supplier didn't put them in my party packs. I called them and they explained that their stock was not delivered to them. THEN SHOULD HAVE CALLED ME EARLIER RIGHT?? THEN I CAN GO BUY ELSEWHERE MAH! IF MY SIS NEVER BRING HOW? PISSED MAN~~ Anyway, very angry at them. Next time don't order from them liao. :P

Anyway, Dad arrived. Having fun with Princess!

My brother and Sis-in-law arrived shortly too. As cute the princess outfit was, Jolie didn't like it as she kept yanking it. So we changed her 3rd outfit, which was bought by her Ah-Ma (my Mother-in-law).

The guests were starting to arrive and the makan begins!

Cobby's buddy, Bobby.

We brought out the Wii and naturally, my brother was all over it!

Jolie want to join in too!

My MIL and SIL arrived. What a nice picture!

The kids give it a go at Wii.

The buffet. Got pretty good reviews from my guests about the Chicken Rice and Mee Siam.

My long time friend Ting Ting, who just came back from Aussie. Look at her ridiculously handsome boy and pretty girl! Gonna break alot of hearts when they grow up!

Another one of Cobby's buddy, Roy and family.

The kids looove the balloons! A must-have for kids party!

About to cut the cake! So we changed into her 4th outfit, a Ralph Lauren dress from her Ah Yee (My Sis).

After watching awhile, my mom can't resist joining my bro for a game of table tennis.

This pic so cute right! Small kid, big kid.

My girlfriends from Seiyu arrived! My pose looked funny... Chew Bee asked, who's birthday is it, cause we adults were having so much fun too. Haha, I guess if you can never be too old to enjoy a birthday party!

The Birthday Cake! It's chocolate and Oh So yummy~

Happy Birthday to you my baby~ Seems like yesterday when you were just a helpless, tiny little infant, crying in my arms. Today you look so lovely in a dress, cutting your birthday cake. So many mixed emotions! Sob~!

Grrr... who take one, so blur!

Cobby's aunt and cousin on the left.

My dear friends from previous work place! I love Zinc's T-Shirt. So formal! Hahaha...

My dear old friends from Polytechnic.

YM, my Sis's in law. But we're close like family.

My dear sister.

The pretty girls from Seiyu!

Cobby's old friend, Louis.

Can you believe that this is the ONLY video taken that day? The voice you're about the hear belongs to my bro. -_-

Sis was yelping, "let Jolie eat her cake! let Jolie eat her cake!" So I fed her some of mine. She really likes it! Yums~ Cobby's expression so funny. Was he expecting some too?

Someone helped my girl changed into her 5th outfit. It's a My Melody dress my Sis bought from Taiwan when she was just a few months old. How time flies! (Note Jolie's eyes getting droopy... Tired...)

It was a good party. Friends were catching up, kids were playing, people were eating and I was running around, trying to spend time with everybody.

The last guest left at around 3pm and we were faced with the mammoth task of cleaning up. I helped with the 1st round of throwing away all the thrash, food, party stuff lying around. Then I gave Jolie a bath and make her take her nap while Cobby took on the task to sweep and mop the floor. Thank you Cobby!

Jolie just realised that there were cartoons on the side of the table cover.

I think at one point, there was about 30 plus people INSIDE the house. And that's when I said to Cobby, we need a bigger home! But there were many positive feedback about our home, so we were quite proud. Only when all the guests have left, did I realise in horror that we didn't put the laundry outside! Which means while Cobby was happily giving house tours, who knows how many of his friends must have seen my grey panties with purple pokka dots hanging above the service balcony! ARGH!!!

Ahem~ Anyway, that aside, we both agreed that it was a good party that both adults and kids enjoyed. We both thank everybody for their presence, their presents and their ang paos. Cheers!

That night we were SO TIRED that we slept at 10.30pm. We didn't even open the presents! THANK YOU GOD and THANK YOU JOLIE for sleeping right through the night. Mama REALLY needed that 8 hours of sleep! I love you Jolie! Happy Birthday my sweet baby! KISS!

Enrichment

Since I'm staying at home, and I will be staying at home for at least another year, I want to take the opportunity to learn something new. Besides, I feel like I'm gaining a little more freedom now that Jolie is a little bigger. Letting my Mom take care of her for a few hours is no problem at at!

Initially I thought of learning something artistic, like dancing or even piano lessons. But it turns out that piano lessons are pretty expensive! So I thought I learn a foreign language instead. Besides, I can even put that into my resume when rejoin the workforce in future!

So after some consideration, I decided to take Japanese lessons. Actually, I did take some Japanese lessons during my Polytechnic days. But it was so elementary, I've forgotten about 90% of it. Haha... Oops! If I manage to master my Japanese, I can even use it on my next trip to Japan! (Dunno when will that be, but in the near future I hope)

I surfed the web and found this Japanese language school. Bunka Language School Looks good! So long story short, I've enrolled! Class starts Feb 22 and I'm really looking forward to it! Yeah happy!

Jolie's 1st trip to the beach

Dad told me that Jolie seems to love playing with sand, so on Saturday, we waited till it's late afternoon before heading to East Coast beach. We chose a more quiet part of the beach so that it's more quiet with cleaner sand.

By the time we reached there, it was Jolie's milk time! But we realised that we don't have any place to sit as we didn't bring any mats. So I fed Jolie her milk while Cobby headed to the nearby store to buy a mat, some toys for Jolie to play sand with and a drink for us.

Yeah Cobby's back! Play time! It was a perfect day for Jolie's debut to the beach. It was sunny but with some clouds, so sun wasn't too harsh. Besides, we chose a spot under a huge tree shade, so it's bright but cool.

This was Jolie's 1st trip to the beach, so all the sand and sea was foreign to her. She was so mesmerized with the sand that we had a hard time getting her to look at the camera to take some photos!

I took away her shovel so that she would look up... :P

Teaching her to shovel sand into the bucket.

Our little family footprint!

After awhile Jolie tried using her fingers to pick up the sand and offered it to her dad.

It's difficult for her to walk on the uneven sand, but her stubborn streak refused us to hold her hand while she walk. So she kept falling on the soft sand.

After playing with the sand for awhile, we decided to let her explore the waters. So I slowly led her to the shore and let her stand there while the gentle waves roll over her little feet.

What fun sensations! I think she likes it!

After this video Jolie didn't want to play anymore. I think she had enough and was quite tired. So we packed up, wash up my sandy baby at a nearby toilet, and headed for an early dinner at Waraku Japanese restaurant nearby.

After dinner it was still quite early, so we went to Holland Village to buy her 1st birthday candle before heading home. What a fun day! It's been very long since I've been to the beach too, so it was really for me too. Jolie must have been really tired, cause she slept right through the night that night. Shoik for me!

Can't wait to go back again~!
