Baby on wheels

Dad had given me his bicycle shortly after Jolie was born, but I hardly had the chance the ride it, so I kept it in the spare room all this while, collecting dust. Lately I felt that Jolie should be big enough to ride together with me, so we shopped around for a child seat for the bike. Dad found this Japanese child seat which was really sturdy and looked pretty quality, so now baby and I can go on bicycle rides together!

Naturally, my little monkey fell in love with it immediately and can't wait to go for a ride.

It rained the WHOLE DAY the next day, so we had to post-phone the maiden voyage to the next day. The next afternoon, after her nap, we gave it a try. I rode VERY slowly, getting accustomed to the extra weight of Jolie sitting in front of me. Thankfully, Jolie sat quite still during the ride, so it was quite enjoyable as we rode to a playground much further away.

I was feeling so confident about that on the very next day, I strapped Jolie on the bike and rode all the way to Mom's place. Some parts of the pedestrian road was a little bumpy, but other than that, it was very fun and enjoyable! It wasn't very sunny, I could even point out interesting things to Jolie along the way, like a Kingfisher bird, colourful flags, trees and flowers. We even said hi to a little girl wearing the same shoes as Jolie while waiting at the traffic junction.

I was surprised that I wasn't sweating much along the way. But only when we've arrived at my Mom's place did the sweat started to pour out from every pore on my body! What a good workout! Best of all, what a great way to travel! No more waiting time and no more changing of buses! By car, 10mins. By bus, 20-30mins. By bicycle, 15mins!

Jolie servicing the bike at my Mom's place...

When Jolie was taking her nap, I rode the bike back home by myself. Once again, I was disoriented as the bike was suddenly much lighter without Jolie. So I found myself riding much faster, until I decided that I wasn't in a hurry to go anywhere, so I slowed down and enjoyed a leisurely ride home.

Only when I got home did I remember that Dad wanted to cycle Jolie to the new park nearby after her nap. Oops! Nevermind, next week we'll cycle over to Mom's place again. Now my "circle" has been expanded. I can bring Jolie further away from our home during the day and still make it back home before dinner. What a liberating feeling!

Hand Made Shelf

With the bulky CPU and monitor gone, Cobby's side of the study table has been drastically cleared. But the scanner as always bothered me, like, 美中不足. I wished there was somewhere we can put the scanner!

I voiced my frustration to Dad and he suggested that he make a little shelf for us. But time passed and he never mentioned it again, even I forgot about it. The day before yesterday, when he came over in the morning, he took down the measurements for the shelf! Imagine my surprise when the very next day, Mom called me and said that she's bringing over the shelf. I didn't expect it to be done so quickly!

Mom joked that Dad was so proud of his creation that he was constantly stroking it, complimenting his own craftsmanship. She brought it over immediately as she was worried that Dad would keep it for himself! Haha...

I was so impressed by it. It's beautiful, with a slight antique feel to it. Of course, it's special as it's hand made by my father. I will treasure it forever! It fits like a glove, the measurements perfect.

I love it!

The challenge

We have an unspoken game ongoing all the time at home. Very simple, we'll just use the toothpaste as per normal, but use it to the very last drop. The person who gives up and open up a new tube would be the loser. So naturally we'll squeeze and bend the poor tube, hoping that it would be enough for just one last brush!

Winner has no prizes, just bragging rights. Haha...

Fantastic Movie - Inception

I can't remember a movie that Cobby and I have watched twice, afterall, movie tickets aren't exactly cheap nowadays. But this was definitely worth every penny.

The 1st time I booked the tickets, I didn't noticed that it was actually fourth row from the screen. My mistake! Doesn't sound so bad? Try sitting fourth row of a giant GV Max screen. I actually had to take look away once in a while during the show as it was so straining on the eyes!

Even with the giant screen, Cobby and I were awestruck by the show. It's pretty complicated, so I don't think I can explain it properly here. All I can saw is that the story is very complex, so it makes you think about it even after the movie. It's very action packed, the effects were great, and the actors were quite well chosen too. It was more than what I expected from looking at the commercials and it was just as good watching it the 2nd time.

The 2nd time was actually better, well, we got better seats this time, so we can actually watch the show without going blind. On top of that, we were pass the "Oooo and Waaah" stage, so we could actually focus more and picked up more details of the story than the 1st time.

All in all, a very good movie. Impressive. :)

In a shopping mood

Actually, I didn't intend to buy anything. Really. But try walking down Orchard Road these few weeks during the GSS and see if you can resist all the giant SALE signs screaming at your face. "BUY ME! BUY ME!" they say, how can I say no?

OK lah, I was just exaggerating. I didn't really buy much stuff. Let me try to recall...
Mango T-Shirt
Mango 3/4 denim jeans
Handbag from Tangs
Pretty rubber band for my hair
New haircut plus shampoo
2 new Glee albums
Twilight, the novel

I was tempted to buy a Miu Miu handbag, or make Cobby buy it for me, but I don't think I'm the type of people who knows how to take care of an expensive bag, so, we opt to spend the money on a new pair of Oakley Sunglasses for me! Jolie destroyed my al-cheapo sunglasses, so I finally bought a new one.

I didn't even noticed, but it turns out that it was the exact same model as the one I bought for Cobby, but mine was brown. Haha, so now we're even. It's a great sunglass for driving purpose, I can see everything so clearly, especially on a blindingly hot day!

I bought the Twilight book on Tuesday at Popular, as I couldn't bear sitting at the hair salon for hours reading boring magazines. It was surprisingly good! I bought it as some friends say the book is much better than the movie, and I must agree! So far I've only watched Twilight on SCV, and thought the show was only so-so. The book was more light-hearted, in fact, more like a romantic novel with a vampire twist to it. Unfortunately, because I know who are the actors in the movie, I couldn't visualize my own version of the characters. But it's ok as I looked forward to reading more about Jacob Black...

SLURP... so anyway, I've finished the whole book by Thursday night. Now I've got nothing to do, so will be getting the next book soon. :)

I wasn't the only one in the spending mood! Cobby has finally decided on buying a new car. Well, it's not new, it's a 2nd hand Citroen, we don't believe in buying new. Anyway, it's a really good deal and we're getting it this coming Monday! Will update more on this. Yeah, new car!

Jolie's 1st Swim

Brought Jolie to the Safra Yishun for a swim in the late afternoon. It was only the two of us, so no one to take pictures of our cute little princess in her pink and blue swimming suit, with her cute little tummy sticking out. It's not those cute swimming costumes or bikini, it's a very practical suit with 3/4 sleeves, so to keep her more warm.

Anyway, she was very hesitant in the beginning and didn't even want to get inside the pool. But I was very patient as I didn't want to traumatize her by forcing her into the pool. So we took our time, walking and looking at every pool there, waddling at the edge of the water. after a while she decided that she's ready to sit at one of the step of the baby pool, so we sat there and played with the water till she was finally comfortable to go into the pool.

When she was finally in the water, she was running in the water, screaming and laughing, having the best time ever. It was fun to watch her, but it was also tiring as I have to make sure she don't fall. As the water level was at her chest, if she falls while walking in the water, she would go under, and I don't want to frighten her.

As tiring as it was, we had a real good time, so much so that she didn't want to leave. Cobby suggest that we go to the Temasek Club this weekend to swim, so I'll make sure to bring the camera this time!

Japanese Elementary 2 Test Results

Well, that's a relief! I wasn't as confident as elementary 1, so thank goodness I passed! Yeah!

New Wall Stickers

We saw this at one of the stores in JB and I instantly fell in love with it! It was a little more expensive, $49.90 Ringgit, but it's really pretty! It's also measures the height of the child, and we don't have to worry that Jolie would outgrow it as it measures up to 1.7 meters. :)

We also got some pretty mermaid stickers but I haven't decide where to stick them. :)

Stressed...

Got a few updates still pending, but I'm a little busy lately as my Japanese Exam is coming this Saturday. Not as confident as the previous level's test, so I'm a little nervous. In fact, I must be thinking about it too much, I'm even having dreams about it! Hope I do well... Wish me luck!

Sis's Birthday Party

Sis came home on her birthday, so Bro-in-law decided to throw her a surprise birthday party by inviting us all over while sis was out for a swim with her sis-in-law. It was fun, the kids looked different each time I see them.

Sis looked so pretty while YM and I (her sis-in-law) looked like crap. Haha...

The cake was delicious! So chocolatey... Everybody enjoyed it, especially Jolie! I was too busy eating to take pictures. (I'm in the green bunny T-Shirt and pouchy stomach. Disgusting...)

I Like birthday parties... :)

Pretty in Pink

Had dinner at Sakura at Dhoby Ghuat the other day. After dinner brought Jolie to the surrounding "park" for a walk.

Lost the pretty pink hair clip on the way back to the carpark. So sad! I bought the clip for Jolie from HK, so it sucks that it's gone now. Oh well, at least they are captured in the photos nicely on Jolie's pretty head.
