Announcement

Oh well... since it's already official, no harm announcing here right? Guess what???

I am happy to announce that I've resigned from my current job!

Yup, I've:
Thrown in the letter
Fired my boss
Moving on
Given my notice
Quit
Sayonara
Bye Bye

It's over baby, cuz the fat lady has sung her last song...

Feeling pretty happy now and looking forward to a new beginning. I'm still there now, my last day's on the 25 July 2008. So check out the countdown clock at my sidebar!

So happy that I'm moving on, many say that it was long overdue. But if I were procrastinating, it would be because I really hate to leave my dear friends there. They were the light in the otherwise dull and depressing place I call work.

Honestly speaking, this job has taught me so much. There are so many people here that I respect and look up to and I've learnt so much from them. Really must thank them properly before I leave.

On the flip side, there are the super arseholes too! Hey this is MY BLOG so it's time to vent baby!!!

To all the freaking idiots, so called geniuses that I have to "serve" everyday. Who think they are the masters of the universe or something. I help out about 200+ people daily. And this is ON TOP of the other work that I have to do. I DO NOT SERVE ONLY YOU. You expect me to drop everything that I'm doing and bow down at your feet? "Oh master of the universe, I live to serve only you, your wish is my command!" Siao. No respect for people. Absolutely no common sense to understand even the most simple logic. Never follow instructions. Inconvenience others so as to convenience yourself. Inconsiderate; when you want it, it must be NOW. When other people ask simple things from you, "wait, I'm busy" What the F**K.

Ok, I know not ALL are like that, but thanks, I've had enough. Flying Kisses for all~! Cheerios!

Day Out with Mummy, and so on...

I know, it's been so long since Ive updated anything. Busy mah! So with the coming of the weekends again, here are some quick updates for my last week.

15 June (Sunday)
Finally got to try out Botak Jones. My review? Check it out here.

The whole week was swamped with work as we were having our Library stock check. It's my first time doing it so it was really quite hectic! But it's quite fun running around once in awhile. Usually my work requires me to sit still and just stare at my PC monitor the whole day. O_O (Ass growing bigger by the day)

Got an interesting treat on Friday morning! Zinc gave me a bean curd tart in the morning, bought by another colleague. Usually I'm not a fan of these soy base food, but I just gave it a try anyway.

Looks like egg tart... Smells like egg tart...
Taste like... soya milk inside a tart!

Het it's actually quite nice! The bean curd filling is very smooth and taste like soya milk. And it goes very well with the buttery tart. Yum. Interested? Go check it out here

Yeah weekend is here again! On Saturday I took Cobby's car and went shopping with my Mummy. It's pretty exciting really, cause it's my very first time driving without Cobby around since I got my license. At some point I was even driving alone! So cool right!

So went to pick up mummy and we headed to Mandai cremetorium first. Brother's wedding is coming up in July, so Mum wanted to pray to my late grandparents, to sorta "inform" them of the good news. Erm, I never drove there before, so it took awhile to get the directions right. But we managed to find the place, pray pray, and left the place.

Headed to the OG shopping centre at People's Park to search for an outfit for mum. She needed something for bro's wedding dinner, so we tried on a few outfits before finding something that we like. It's been so long since I went out alone with mum, so it's really nice as we went shopping for clothes together, went for lunch, shop somemore until our legs ache. Then we sat down for some coffee and snacks as we chatted away.

While chatting, mum mentioned that a friend once bought her some really nice 大包 (steam pork buns), so I suggested that we drive to the shop and buy some of those lovely buns she described. It was at Joo Chiat Road, another place which I've never drove there before so finding the place was quite a challenge. On top of that, the area is well known for it's narrow streets, heavy traffic and confusing roads. So it was quite stressful and challenging finding our way there.

Let's just put it this way. As much as I love her, I would definitely NOT join the Amazing Race with my mum. I would predict that we would be the first team ever to kill each other.

Luckily with my amazing driving and navigational skills, we found the place. Which was just a tiny little store selling baos and dim sums. So we bought a few boxes and headed home. We took a little longer to get home as we didn't know how to leave Joo Chiat Road to get to the highway! On top of that, I missed 2 turns and almost got hit by an idiot who cut into my lane suddenly becuase he needed to turn out at the exit. Luckily I managed to avoid him in time. F**king asshole. Sigh... male drivers...

After dropping my mum off I was feeling really super. A fantastic day out with mum and on top of that, I got to drive on so many challenging roads! So when I saw a parallel lot at my carpark, I was feeling like the master of the universe. So I went for it.

I managed to get my car into the lot at one go, but then when I check outside the door, it was a little near the outer line. Dissatisfied, I tried to slowly back up the car further back into the corner. I was waiting for the safety reverse "beep beep" sound to come but it never came, so I continued backing until "CRACK" What was that!!?? "must be the exhaust pipe scrapping the sidewalk" I thought. But inside, a nagging feeling keep surfacing. So I quickly finish parking and got out to inspect.

OOOOOOOOOOH NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I've actually backed the car into the corner of the pillar!!! Eeeks... Oh shit why was I so careless! Cobby's gonna be so upset! So I went home to see his smilely face, welcoming me back home, which makes me feel even more bad! So I presented him with gifts of food, saying how much I love him and asking if he love me too!? Then he suspected something when I'm smiling a little too much. So I had to tell him and apologised profusely. I'M SO SORRY!!

Well it turns out that he's ok with it, he's just glad that I backed into a pillar and not into someone's car. I asked if he's gonna fix it or not but he said that maybe we'll wait till new year before giving it a buff and shine and fix the cracked area. I feel so bad... But he just said it's ok and say that this should not affect my interest in driving. So sweet right!!?? Sob Sob...

Sigh.. what a dramatic Saturday. My very first car accident. Hope it's the last!

Paris Day 2~

What an exciting morning! Today we were going to my dream destination, the Louvre. Actually the area is quite simple to maneuver. We’ll start with the Louvre and walk all the way down towards the Arc de Triomphe and we’ll just sight-see all the way there!

The Louvre is absolutely breathtaking. I can seriously spend a few days there and I still won’t be done seeing all the wonderful art and artifacts. But words would not do any justice here. It’s not just a place where they keep the art. The whole building is a work of art by itself! Every hall fits into the theme of the museum. You have the Egyptian arts, Roman, Persians, sculptures, paintings, so many!!

In some halls, like the Gallery of Apollo, the whole room itself is a piece of art. Every space in the hall, be it the windows, walls, ceiling, is filled with paintings and sculptures. Amazing.

Of course, we you are at the Louvre, how can you not pay tribute to the lady of the house? The enchanting Madam Mona Lisa.

Not surprising, that was the most popular piece of work there. In fact, we had a hard time fighting for space just to take a photo of the famous painting. At first glance, I was surprised how small the painting was. It's true, her eyes seemed to be staring right at you... How do they do that? It’s funny cause facing directly opposite wall from the Mona Lisa holds the Louvre’s largest painting, Veronese’s The Wedding Feast at Cana.

Apparently it was intentional as you don’t see it when you walk in, but when you turn around after viewing the Mona Lisa on the far end of the room, you’re just about far enough away to view the whole painting. Beautiful.

Ok enough talking... Here are some pictures that I took. Enjoy...

After a quick but wonderful tour around the Louvre, we headed out towards the Arc de Triomphe. It was a super sunny day so I took off my sweater and enjoyed some sun on my skin. Shiok!

We walked through the Jardin Des Tuileries and even enjoyed some yummy gelato as we strolled!

When we finally reached the Arc de Triomphe, we realised that it was closed for some memorial event. There was even a parade of old war veterans marching up to the Arc.

Some looked so old they could hardly walk straight.

But it was a pretty solemn sight so see that their country had so many of these veterans who have been there and seen it all. Well that was unexpected! So we’ll have to come back tomorrow. Meanwhile, we had to find a place to settle our dinner!

We settled for Bistro Romain after looking at its menu. Cobby ordered a grill Salmon while I got the pasta.

At first my pasta dish looks quite sad as it does have anything on it except for tomato sauce and little chunks of… I don’t know, looks like pineapple. Then I took a nibble and realised that it’s actually cheese! Quite potent smelling cheese actually. Luckily only took a nibble and not pop the whole thing into my mouth.

It may be potent, but it goes fantastically when you eat it with the simple pasta and tomato sauce! Cobby’s salmon was a little fishy but it tasted better when he added more pepper and removed the salmon skin.

The highlight of the meal, or rather, the whole trip was when I had my Crème Brule.

Words cannot describe how wonderful it tastes. The smooth custard, the sweet crunchy caramelised top… Basically it’s heaven on a spoon.

Hands down the BEST Crème Brule Miss CoCo have EVER had in her whole life. Cheers.

(And oh the wine was fabulous too)

After the very satisfying meal we strolled around and headed back to our hotel. What a long and memorable day, must rest early as we’ll be going up the Eiffel Tower early tomorrow morning!

Missing

It's funny how people just stop noticing things around them. Even if they are things that you place right in front of you. After awhile, you just wouldn't even know they are gone.

Suv started this little experiment when she took the little dancing doll (the solar energy doll) from Harwin's desk and placed it on her desk instead, right in front of her.

The funny thing was, Harwin didn't even notice that the item was missing. Worse, he didn't even see it when he was standing in front of Suv's desk, chit-chatting with her, and the item was right in front of him, in plain sight, dancing away happily.

So Suv decided to take it one step further and take one more item from his desk, a little rugby ball. Funny thing was, other people started to take notice. Some even asked him directly if he noticed anything missing from his table. So Harwin took one long look at his desk, and replied "Nope, nothing missing" Hahaha.... Fainted...

So the rugby ball and the dancing doll till this day was still on Suv's desk, obviously not missed by their owner!

Suv shared the story with Mao, Zinc and I and we were so amused! Zinc even commented that even she would not have noticed if anything went missing on her desk. So I followed Suv's experiment and took something from Zinc's desk. Zinc, can you tell what did I take? haha...

The experiment was successful! Zinc had the same reaction as Harwin. In fact, would she know that one of her pigs was with me if I didn't tell her? I doubt so...

So I tried another victim and placed Mao's snow globe with Zinc.

But Mao was definitely more alert as she noticed that it was gone within the day! haha... So her snow globe was returned to her promptly. Heehee...

So ends my 'research'.
2 Conclusions:
1. Some people are more aware of their belongings than others.
2. Obviously the missing item is not of much importance to them. Can throw away~

Hahahaha....

Funny names & yummy cakes

Last Sunday was brother's 过大礼, where the groom would bring over gifts and ang pao over to the bride's home. According to custom, the groom's parents do not go over to their home, so naturally it's up to me and Cobby to help carry the cakes over...

So we went over bearing gifts and ang pao, played with Cindy's kids for awhile while the mother-in-law figure out what she have to return to my mom. I havn't seen Cindy's (my sis-in-law's sister) for awhile now. Guess what's her little son's name?

Here's a hint...

Yup, she named her son Leonidas, after the character in the movie 300. Oh this is actually her 2nd choice. Do you know what was the father's initial choice for the son's name?

Here's another hint...

The great Cristiano Ronaldo

Can you imagine a chinese boy named Cristiano Heng??? Thankfully they changed their mind. I mean, think of all the pressure the kid have to face for the rest of his life! "Wah you named after such a famous footballer, your soccer skills must be damn good man!" Ok soccer aside - can you imagine having such a fancy Italian name such as Cristiano??? oh man... haha...

So names aside, the kids are absolutely adorable. So we went home after that and feast on the returned cakes. They were so pretty and delicious!

That is... until the cake ninja came and stole away the cakes...!

Souvenirs of Guilt

A colleague just came back from Melaka recently, and instead of the usual snacks, she made key chains for everybody! They are little bear key chains with our names written on them. She even chose the colours according to our liking! So sweet and thoughtful right...?

Join the gang...

This made me feel a little embarrassed as the only souvenir that I gave her from my recent Europe trip was a cheapo magnet. Well, I guess you can’t compare it like that right, since the stupid EURO currency is like 2-3 times the amount of Ringgit. Honestly I didn't want to buy the silly magnet, but since she asked for it...

I’m always pleasantly surprised when people actually took the extra effort (and cost) to choose souvenirs for friends at home. Even if they aren’t exactly your best friends.

That usually say a lot about you… From my own evaluation, either you are:
1) Naturally a nice and generous person who gives unconditionally
2) A politically correct character trying to buy favours so that life in the office would be a much easier place to work
3) You REALLY care how and what people thinks about you and you wanna make sure that you are in other people’s good books.
4) Or… All the above….

:D

Seriously there’s nothing wrong with being one of the above. A have a friend that seriously DO NOT LIKE it when someone gives him a gift. Be it Christmas, or even his birthday, he just doesn’t like gifts!

He’s theory was that being a nice guy, he would then be obligated to return a gift, and he finds it such a chore to shop for a gift for someone! So he would rather not receive them in the first place.

I thought that was an interesting theory, so I intentionally bought him a Christmas present, much to his dismay and my delight in irritating him. Whahaha… And true enough, I got a gift from him shortly – a traveling toothbrush

O_O what the…

So anyway, I generally don’t like to buy souvenirs. I don’t mind spending more effort for birthdays and Christmas or any other special events, but when I’m on holiday, I just don’t enjoy spending my precious time and money in hunting down gifts or snacks for people back home.

I would usually face a dilemma.

If I choose to buy – I would definitely not enjoy the process. If I don’t buy, then I would have to face the people back home, looking at me expectantly, asking me rhetorical questions like “hows your trip?” before the million dollar question “So did you buy anything…?”

I used to be the type (3) person, so this would have made me really nervous.

Now – I’ll just casually throw out something like “oh no, didn’t buy ANYTHING”

Flickers of dissapointment flashes across the faces – just for a second, and life goes on. So that’s my take – just because I didn’t bring back any souvenirs doesn’t make me a bad person. But of course, I always cherish any gifts that people give me. If you have ever given me any gift, I thank you sincerely! :D

Can You Keep A Secret?

I admit, I'm a loud-mouth.

It absolutely kills me if I know something and I cannot tell other people. So in order to prevent myself from going crazy from bottling up all the secrets inside me, I would usually disseminate a little information to people who have totally no relation to the topic.

But sometimes, just sometimes, like now, I would hold some very important information that I CANNOT TELL ANYBODY! Not even my unknowing secret keeper, Cobby.

SO IT IS SUPER KILLING ME OK!

Every now and then I would be tempted to just drop hints or just blurt it out. But then I would bite my tongue and remind myself that I cannot do it!

I swear if there’s a hidden camera monitoring me when no one is watching, it would probably see plenty of interesting footage of my face being screwed up in agony – controlling myself not to spill the beans!

I need to find a solution… maybe I should do what those silly chick flick movies do – whisper the secret into a bottle, seal it up and throw it away.

Oh and since we are all about going green nowadays, I guess I should recycle it instead.
