Blink Blink All The Way

I was just looking at Some's blog when I suddenly remembered; I forgot to show off my new nails!

Went to Some's house on the 16-17 April after work to get my nails done. On the 16th we did pedicure. Hubs read his newspaper while Some did my toe nails.

The next day we worked on my fingernails. Some said the night before that it may take longer.

-_- Biggest understatement...

We reached there at around 6.50pm, ate dinner and started at around 7.15pm. Hubs went to Lot 1 Shopping Centre, left when the shops closed, waited... Went to the petrol station and got some drinks, chocolate and a magazine, thoroughly finished the whole magazine and his newspaper and ...... I'm still not finished :P

Some hard at work

I kept calling him to go home first and that I'll take a cab home myself but he insist on sending me home. He later told me that he don't feel safe letting me go back alone from there cause it was a pretty quiet area. So sweet.... Kiss Kiss!

So we finally finished around 12 midnite! I was elated to be able to go home! Some's elated at her masterpiece! She started snapping away with her camera phone and I had to stop her at around 15 shots. Haha...

Anyway, I felt that it was so worth it! They were Beautiful.... Everywhere I go people were like, Whao your nails are beautiful! Who did it for you? So Some, I was like a walking talking advertisement for you.

Ahem... much to many people's misunderstanding, the services rendered are NOT for free ok... They are... not cheap. For your information, they are REAL Swarovski Crystals for the ultimate blink effect.

Ok enough talk. Check out my blink blinks!

Interested in Some's services? Check her out!

Last Last Weekend

14 April 2007, Saturday

Woke up bright and early on Saturday morning. We strolled across the road to Toa Payoh Blk 85B for a bak chor mee breakfast. It’s nice, personally I’m not crazy about it, but don’t tell him! ;)

I spent the next 2 hours at the neighborhood salon next to the coffee shop, coloring my dark roots in preparation for my photo shoot on the 22 April.

We’re supposed to go to a friend’s baby’s 1st birthday party, but I really didn’t want to go. It’s been so long since I went out with my hubs alone on a weekend. So I apologized for our absence, and we spent the day doing what we love to do.

We went on a movie marathon.
3.25pm – Wild Hogs
Starring John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence and William H Macy, it’s a funny show about a bunch of middle age men going on a road trip. It’s a light hearted movie and pretty enjoyable. Not much of a storyline, but I wasn’t expecting for one. J

6.35pm – The Shooter
My nose was in perpetual bleeding condition throughout the whole show. Reason? Mark Wahlberg. SLUUURP! Mark Wahlberg’s character as a snipper is super cool! Eye candy aside, the story is not much different from Matt Damon’s Bourne identity. (Another SLURP!) The government’s best of the best, betrayed by the government itself, comes back with a vengeance. So it’s obvious that between me and hubs, who enjoys the movie more.

9.15pm – The Reaping
Man this show is deep… Starring Hilary Swank, this eerie movie has a good mix of special effects, good cast and a storyline that makes you ponder after the show. (I like that) It delivers all the above without making the whole show too cheesy. To top it all off, there’s a twist at the end of the movie! I hate spoilers, so, go watch it yourself!

Look who we came across at Golden Village Cinema!
Shrek & family!

What a great day! Glad we didn’t go to the birthday party! It was abit late but we even change the bed sheets before we sleep. Fresh, clean sheets are so wonderful to sleep in! :)

15 April 2007, Sunday

I love Sundays… you get to wake up a little later, snuggle in the warm bed and go for a nice Sunday breakfast.

Our favorite weekend breakfast is Hua Yuan porridge at Tiong Bahru Food Centre. We’re like clockwork. Once he parked his car, we’ll automatically go our separate ways. I’ll go buy coffee and You Tiao (fried dough sticks) while he’ll go get the porridge and we’ll meet at the tables near the porridge stall. I always order the crispy fried pig intestine porridge while hubs will have his usual pork meat porridge. We live for routine. Haha..

We skipped lunch and munched on snacks while watching the DVDs we bought on Friday. We started with Mean Girls, followed by Matrix. Nice… Classics.

Hubby gave me a real treat by making dinner for me! So sweet right… Well… I did supervise abit but he did most of the cooking. It was delicious! Filled with love… :)

Just some salt & pepper would do

I name it CoCo’s Black Pepper Steak with Cobby’s Hot Prawns with stir fry garlic shitake mushrooms at the side. Serve with a glass of cold beer.

We enjoyed our yummy sinful dinner while watching Fight Club. Before we know it, the weekend has ended! Look forward to the next one!

Wedding Photoshoot Part 1

We took our outdoor photoshoot on Sunday, 22 April 2007.

We headed out at 10.30am to the National Museum, our first stop. On the way there, we drove pass the City Hall building opposite the Padang. I commented that the building is very beautiful so the photographer suggested that we make an impromptu stop.

The day before, I kept hoping that it would rain so that I can have a beautiful weather for my photoshoot. Well, I certainly got what I wished for because it was SCORCHING HOT! Behind the smile and make up and the freaking hot dress, I could feel my skin searing under the sunlight.

National Museum was beautiful! Too bad we couldn't take a photo of their marble staircase at the lobby. The lady said that we needed a written permission. I mean, come on! I'm not taking photos of the artwork or logo of the National Musem! It's just a staircase!! Imbecile...

Anyway, whatever. We were standing at the doorway, my photographer loading the film when a whole bus load of old foggies started to swarm through the entrance. We just had to step aside and become lab specimens for the old folks to stare and point while they moved at snail rate into the museum. :P Cannot take pictures inside? Hmm! I take outside. It was just as beautiful..

By the time we headed to the Botanic Gardens, I must have sweat about 1/2kg of sweat. Haha... Thank goodness for the assistant Hui Min who took good care of me by wiping my sweat, fix my hair and make up, etc.

I made a BIG mistake by choosing outdoor shoot on a Sunday. There were people everywhere! Grrr.... We were moving on after taking some shots at our favourite spot when suddenly, the wind started to pick up and the leaves of the trees at our favourite spot started to fall gently like snow! So beautiful! I quickly grabbed my skirt, shouted for my photographer and hubby and started running back to the trees. (In case you're wondering how is that possible, I was wearing my converse shoes underneath my bridal dress.) It must have shocked the passerbys. Haha.. I was like Julia Roberts in the Runway Bride. We got the shots we wanted :)

By the time we called it a day, we have taken about 100+ photos and sweat about another 1/2 kg of sweat. Good. Can lose weight. :D

It was a really fun day, a great experience! Can't wait to see the result! My next shot woud be at the studio on the 13 May and I'm so looking forward to it!

Family Day!

Wah.. What? I reached for my ringing handphone and glanced at the time before I answered.

5.45am

Sis was on the other line, telling me that she'll be there at 6.15am. Before we know it, we were heading to the Sembawang Air Base. Clarence (bro-in-law) is a commando in the para-wing, so today the family members get to go for a private viewing of their jumps. Sorta like a private family day. The skies were still dark when Clarence drove us inside the camp, en route to the area where they 'parked' the Chinooks. They're huge!

The really cool part was after we parked the car. On the way to the runway, we walked through the hanger where they kept their helicopters. It was so cool! I have seen them up closed before at the Army Open House, but this is the first time we're there alone with the helicopters, in all it's glory, some were taken apart for maintenence.

There were only a few groups of families. We were the only one who brought our own food! Hahaha... We brought coffee, tea, mom's lor mai kai (gultinous rice) and even bread. We were having a little picnic on our own while the other families watched, salivating. Haha...

It was a great experience, watching them pack their parachutes, suit up, see the Chinook arrive in front of us (very windy!) and the Red Lions go on board. After they reach required height, u can see them jumped out like little black dots. They look like little flowers blooming in the skies when they open their parachutes! Pop Pop Pop! :) Then we see them land in front of us while we cheered. Yeah! Soo fun...

Strictly speaking we can't take pictures but I managed to take some photos in the wee hours of the morning.

13 April 2007, Friday

Hubs and I went to Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant ay Vivo City for dinner and drinks after work last Friday.

I loved the cosy deco with the choice of stylish indoor seating and outdoor seating with a fantastic view of Sentosa. Their draft beer is pretty good but what I really like was the range of German beers that you can’t find elsewhere. The food is great too! We shared a pork knuckle accompanied by a spicy galosh and we absolutely loved it! It’s definitely a great place for anyone who loves good quality beer with good hearty food. Good food, good beer, great view and even greater company.

Sigh… I can feel the tension of the week melt as we sat at the bar, surrounded by crowds of friends, family, colleagues, talking, laughing and relaxing. Like us they were celebrating the ending of the work week and welcoming the weekends.

We’ll definitely go there again.

After dinner we walked around the giant shopping centre and darling paid for my new purse and a cutey comb. Cute?

Passed by a DVD shop and we went crazy buying DVDs they had a promotion; 2 for S$30. Good deal for original DVDs! These were our picks:

Forrest Gump
Mean Girls
Fargo
Fight Club
Matrix
Grease

I had an early appointment with the hairdresser near hubby’s place so we went home after that. Fiddled with my blog, watched Supernatural and zzz…

New Shoes! (Again)

Check out my new shoes! Aren't they beautiful!? The last time I wore a Converse, I was sixteen years old! This pair of shoes would be great for my coming Hong Kong trip! Yeah!

Oh and these are my shoe collection... I think I need more space to store them :)

Preparation!

I'm getting Some to help me do my manicure for my photoshoot on the 22 April.

Just did part one of my manicure just now over lunch. Some had to split up the session into several days cause I don't have time and I can't take leave due to vege leaving.. Sigh... (I'll write about that another day)

So today Some help me clean my fingernails and remove the cuticles. I had reception duty today at 12.30pm. I wanted to switch with Mao, our receptionist, but she had a medical appointment, so I just had to do it over lunch.

I think this is the first time that I ever had a manicure done over instant noodles and Old Chang Kee. (disclaimer: I only had ONE sotong ball and ONE prawn fritter)

Ended up abit late but not so bad lah.. Man.. my nails look so nice and clean now :)

Next appointment at Some's place next week. heehee... looking forward to it!!

Oh by the way I got fabulous news!

Hubby said that he does not have to attend the course anymore so we can go to honey moon straight after the wedding!!! I was estatic! When he told me earlier that our honey moon may have to postphone to September due to the course he had to attend, I was close to tears..

NOW WE ARE PLANNING A HONEYMOON IN PARIS!!!

Oh my god I'm so happy.

Of course I was concerned when I heard the news. I was worried if this is bad news for his career. You see this course is like a preparation for the Command and Staff College, which is like, super for his career and this year is the last year for him to make it to the college. So far he's on the reserve list. (in case someone drop out)

Well he said that it should not affect his course to attend the college, so, fingers crossed! I think in the end, his career should be the most important thing to us.

Anyway.............

WE ARE GOING TO PARIS!!!

I don't believe it, it's my DREAM to go to Paris. Ok ok... calm down.. anyway, I remember to take down some photos of my nails when SOme's done with it. Meanwhile, Ciao!

Monday Again

Man... My engine that just won't start...

Damn it, I don't feel like walking, talking, or anything that resembles movement. Yah, that includes smiling too.

I just feel so crappy and I keep having this strange urge to take a bite off anybody who comes near my desk.

Well.

My common sense got the better of me. So, driven by the fact that I don't want to be sent to Woodbridge or worst, SPCA, I'll just have to settle with a toneless, humourless, impatient, fustrated "whaaaaaaaaat......." Oh, not forgeting a half-closed eyes and the selective deafness of the ears whenever I hear some auntie calling my nic.. "CoCo.. CoCo.." Grrrrr.......

I don't have a name issit? CoCo is not for you to call me by ok?
CoCo is only reserved for my close friends ok....

Even the security gaurd sense the disturbance in The Force. One of them asked me why am I so quiet today. I just grunted. What's there to talk about? Whatever.

Probably I'll feel better tomorrow. Right now I don't want to feel better. I just want to continue grunting.

YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT? HUH!!??

New Findings

I just found out this real funny blog by this local girl. She was on TV awhile ago, and I didn't really like her then. She's so... irritating loh... But a friend recommend that I read her blog so I did. A few minutes later I was laughing away at her entries, agreeing with her opinions and hungry for more.

My attitude about her changed immensely over the past 15minutes. I didn't really like her then cause she tries to look so sweet and stuff but her language and behaviour was the total opposite.

Funny thing is, those were exactly what I like about her blog. She's brutally honest and uninhibited in her use of language, so it made her blog super funny. I also like that she is honest about herself, (read it and you'll understand) You can really see her talking and sometimes shouting out her fustration.

Anyway, go check it out. http://xiaxue.blogspot.com

Just Fooling Around

Took some photos the yesterday, its Good Friday the next day, so Some gave each of us an Easter Egg. ... Well, if you consider that an Easter Egg. Whahaha... But that was super sweet of her to give us the egg anyway. After she took picture of my egg for her blog, we took some candid photos, starring my cute stuff on my cluttered desk.

Oh check out my new earrings! Aren't they absolutely adorable?

A Trip To The Opera

On the 24th March, Hubby, Sis and I went to catch the Phantom of The Opera at the Esplanade Theater. It's my second time watching it, the first time was at the Kallang Theater back in the... 90s? can't really remember.

Anyway, it was hub's first opera/musical and he loved it! I absolutely loved it. It was a fun afternoon. You can't really take photos inside the theater but I managed to steal some shots. (not without polite complaints from the ushers :P) So check it out.

A hope for a good day

It's Thursday and it's the last day of the week. I was standing on the platform of the MRT station, waiting for the train to bring me to work. The weather was soft and breezy and I secretly wished for a good day at work as I stared at the brightening skies.

Feeling the Blues..

I miss blogging. I miss spending hours in front of the computer changing the format, searching for pictures, reading my friend's blog. My laptop's abit weird recently so my only chance was to steal some time at work to blog. Seriously, I don't like it. I always have to be alert in making sure no nosy auntie suddenly appear behind me or some spooky assistant hovering around my cubicle, asking stupid, blood-pressure rising questions.

Honestly, what I'm doing right now isn't what I wanted to do. And it's making me more depressing by the day. On a micro-scale, I hated the job scope that I'm doing now. I wish I could do be transferred to elsewhere. Where? ANYWHERE but here. I've spoken to my boss, but instead of moving me as I hoped for, she just kept me where I am but in addition give me work from another team. -_-''' Err... not exactly what I had in mind, which brings me to the macro-scale.

I really wish I don't have to work. At all. I know I know, many people must be thinking why on earth a young educated woman would want to be a housewife!? Such a waste of taxpayer's money. My dad's one of them. But seriously, that's my little dream. I want to make breakfast for my darling in the morning, kiss him goodbye, clean the house, take care of the kids, go for afternoon tea, make dinner and watch TV.

Of course, if I really were to take that path, I would probably want to have some income of my own by having a small business. Something that allows me to work from home. Right now I'm still here, still a cubicle rat. Other than disliking what I do, this rat maze is fine, and I love my other rat friends here. hahaha....

Well I would definitely not leave before my wedding day, I don't think I can handle so many changes at the same time. I think eventually I make my little dream come through, but I don't think it would be this year. Maybe I should look back one year from now and see if my dream has come true yet. :)
