Cobby went to class so I've just have to entertain myself like a real tai tai and do some gardening!
My chilli and calamasi seeds have dried up nicely, so Ive planted them nicely into two little pots and now all that I can do is to wait! Anyway, Ive also bought 2 really gorgeous flowering plants and a nice little pandan plant for my garden.
Just looking at them makes me smile! Aren't they pretty? Ive also cleaned up my garden, so everything looks clean and neat now. :)
After a little gardening I'm still not in the mood to watch TV, so I baked some nice banana cakelettes with some left over bananas.
I must say they looked really good and yummy! These would be great with a hot cup of tea!
Now Cobby is on his way home, so I can get ready so that we can go out for a nice lunch and watch WALL.E! Feeling good today!

Mothership : Captain's Log (II)
9 July 2008, Wednesday
I finally told sis about the pregnancy. From the day she came back on the 3 July 2008, I was trying to get some alone time with her so that I can break the news to her. But the 万人迷 (miss popular) has been so busy! How to break the news to her??
Yesterday we were alone when we walked pass a grandmother carrying a very small infant. She exclaimed “The baby is so smaaaaaalll….!” That’s when I thought was the perfect moment. So I just blurted out “By the way, I’m pregnant.” Her face went for a few moments as she struggled to control herself from screaming in public.
Haha… after that it was no stop questions “when… how long…” it was all very exciting. She kept repeating that she’s SO happy but we agreed that we shouldn’t tell anybody about it as it was only less than 3 months.
Oh my god it was such a relief to tell her everything! Until then only me and Cobby knew about the baby and as happy as I am to share this little joy with Cobby, I really longed to share it with a female companion. Someone who can offer some advise and guidance to an otherwise very lost and confusing times.
Of course, it’s always more fun to squeal in delight with a female companion, even better when she’s my sister. After the initial excitement, she was back to her naggy self, complaining that I shouldn’t have carried heavy stuff earlier during the day. Haha… I really can’t wait till the 3 months is over, then I can shout it to the whole world! YES I’M PREGNANT!!
14 July 2008, Monday(10 weeks preggy)
I am exhausted.
According to the things I read on the internet, magazines, books, etc. During the first few weeks of pregnancy, the mummy would constantly feel very tired as the body is practically working overtime to create the most amazing changes inside!
From hormonal changes, muscle changes and of course, creating tissues, organs, bone structures and a brain for the baby inside of me! Isn’t that amazing???? So as I’m typing this, my body is creating a placenta to protect the baby. Best of all, the bones are starting to harden, he/she learns to eat, and he/she would even yawn to exercise his/her jaw muscles! COOL~! Read more here
Anyway, like I said, I’m constantly exhausted. Most of the time I just wanted to lie down and rest. I don’t know if it’s really the case of because of the pregnancy? Or is it due to the 98% cut in caffeine intake. (2% = tea) Maybe it’s the combination of both.
Yawn… I wanna go home…

Project Green Fingers
I'm thinking of ways to spruce up my little garden, which has been a little neglected for awhile now. Currently I've got a nice pot of curry leaves, so I thought maybe I should expand my eidible plants in my little garden.
I dug out some left over chilli padis and calamasi from my fridge, got their seeds out and put them out to dry. When they're dried I'll plant them myself!
I know some of you must be thinking why on earth would I want to plant my own chilli and calamasi?! These stuff is like super cheap when you buy them from the market. 50cents can buy you a huge handful! Besides, if I'm really feeling adventurous, I can easily buy the chilli or calamasi plant from a nursery anyway.
WHY AM I TORTURING MYSELF BY PLANTING THEM MYSELF USING SEEDS!!??
Answer is: Because I can!
I mean, wouldn't it be great if I actually succeed and plant my own chilli!? Whenever I need some chilli, I'll just walk to my balcony and pluck some! Cool! OK it may not work, but try lah! Very free to do stupid stuff anyway! Hahaha...
On top of my chilli and calamasi, I wanted a pot of Pandan leaves plant too, who's scientific name is Pandanus amaryllifolius by the way... (learn something new today huh!) But since I don't know how to plant this from scratch, I'll just have to go buy the plant! Hehe..
I'll try to blog down the progress of my planting project, so keep those green fingers crossed and hopefully this works! Cheers~

Oh… Being pregnant is really a love hate thingy. One moment, I thought of the little life growing inside of me and my heart feel a glow and a smile appear at my face as I rub my tummy gently. The next moment, a wave of nausea hits and suddenly, I hate being pregnant.
How do I feel about being pregnant? Sick. I feel nausea EVERY MORNING. And sometimes it gets so uncomfortable even in my loose home clothes, so you can imagine when I have to wear my office attire.
Ladies, you know that bloated stage you get just before your menses come? Your boobs get bigger, your tummy gets a little bloated, well, actually your whole body gets a little bloated? Well lucky for you the bloated feeling would go away when your menses comes. But when you are pregnant you just stay that way for the next 8-9 months. Oops, my mistake, you don’t stay that way, you get bigger by the week!!! Not a pretty picture.
So far I’ve been desperately trying to conceal my little tummy and my growing boobs. Like I said, “trying”, not very effective though, so most of the time I had to endure criticisms on how much weight I’ve gained. Sigh… So now you girls know right?!
I know some of them meant well, as they wanted to “motivate” me to lose some weight. Well, I guess dieting plans would have to be rescheduled to… erm… 9 months later? Haha…
At this stage, wardrobe wise is a little tricky. I’m not THAT big yet, so it’s a little early for maternity clothes. But the waistline of my pants and my bra is definitely getting a little uncomfortable. I’ll try to tahan for another 1-2 months before buying some real maternity clothes. Meanwhile, I’ll just have to settle for loose outfits and babydoll cutting clothes. Time to go shopping!
2 July 2008, Wednesday
I’m sick of lying. I’m not suppose to tell people that I’m pregnant, but I guess I suck at it cause people (especially women with kids) are starting to ask questions.
E: eh Colene, are you..?
Me: (act blur) am I… what? Am I leaving (resigning)? Yah I am… haha
E: No lah, I know you are leaving. What I meant was… Are you pregnant?
Me: (sweating and silently swearing never to wear the tight fitting red top ever again) Hahaha… NO LAH… Just putting on some weight only! Hahaha (forced laughter as I patted my belly - gently)
Shit… they know…

Feeling Low~
Hmm... Feeling very low today.
Slept very well, but I just felt SO down and depressed right from morning till now. Why? Misery loves company... So I guess when you are feeling low, millions of reasons to feel sad, angry and depressed come and join the party too. Even those that haven’t bothered you before would suddenly become so big and significant.
Sigh....
Or maybe the hormones gave misery the extra kick it needed to send my mood spiralling down to the depths of hell. My tears just fall uncontrollably, I hate everything. I just want to be left alone to sulk and cry.
Cobby asked me what's wrong, but I can't answer him without breaking down in tears, so I just mumbled some sounds. I guess he understood that I don't want to talk about it, so he just let me be.
After lunch I came home and started thinking of ways to fix my foul mood. If I'm feeling down, I'll usually eat something sweet to perk me up. But if it's bad like how I'm feeling today, I'll need to bring out the 'big guns'.
I dug around my CD cabinet for some suitable music to sooth the beast. IT's a pretty nasty beast today, so I got out the loudest, most vulgar, most angry album I have. (Limp Bizkit - chocolate starfish and the hotdog flavoured water) Plug in the earphones and I closed my eyes as the music blast away and Fred Durst screamed away. (Ultimate track - Livin It Up)
I can imagine sis screaming at me for listening to such vulgar stuff, but it's not as if I'm letting baby listen to it right, so don't care lah. Somehow listening to men screaming expletives with loud, angry music when I'm upset sooths me. True enough, I feel so much better now, so I've switched to Ricky Martin's Vuelve, which is more cheerful with its Latin music and the occasional romantic songs.
Now that my mood has improved, I feel a little bad for making Cobby so distressed the whole day, so I better go give him a nice hug before he heads to class...

How it all started
Sometimes I don’t understand how some woman can be so lucky/unlucky (depends on how you see it right) when it comes to pregnancy. It’s actually not very easy to get pregnant you know? In fact, due to a miscalculation, our honeymoon trip didn’t really achieve its main objective.
Oh well, it was a trip to remember anyways. If only I had done my homework earlier, then I would have had a Paris baby! Sigh… Ok lah, Singapore baby is just as nice :)
For those who wanna try for a baby, basically this is how it works.
About 14 days after your period:
15th day – a little fertile
16th day – more fertile
17th day – VERY fertile!
Day you ovulate… SUPER FERTILE
24-48 hours later… window closes.
So every month you have just have 5-6 effective days to get busy with your hubby! His sperm can live in your body for 4-5 days, so… get to work! Haha… So after I got my calculation right, I was quite confident about getting a baby… And true enough, day for my period came and went but…. NO MENSTRATION! Good Sign!
That was the worst few days of my life. We’ve faced disappointments before, so I didn’t allow myself to think of the possibility that we could really be pregnant! But every day you wonder if your menstruation was coming or not and at the end of each day, you can’t help but give a silent whoop! in your heart. So for the first month I kept silent, I didn’t want to tell Cobby that I’m late until I’m quite sure. He just can’t take disappointing news well lah, so let's spare him.
So after a month I finally told him that I’ve missed my period for a month, with an added disclaimer that I could just be late, or we could be pregnant. He was naturally very happy, but also understood my disclaimer note. So we’ve decided that we’ll wait for another month before taking the pharmacy pregnancy test.
We bought the test at the pharmacy, the two in a box type. (just to be sure...)
We didn’t test it until late in the evening, after dinner and shower. We wanted to prepare ourselves mentally I guess. Actually by then we were more or less decided that I should be pregnant, I mean, if I’m not, then there must be something wrong with me! But it was quite nerve wrecking anyway as the test would be an actual confirmation to our suspicions.
After a minute we looked into the stick together and saw......
A POSITIVE SIGN!!!!!!!!!!!
For me, it was a sudden gush of happiness, aweness, excitement, unbelievable, relief and a little bit of fear!
Cobby just danced around the bedroom cheering and laughing... Hahaha...
Then we hugged and kissed and laughed and danced around some more. I told him that I should do one more test to be sure, but this time round we knew what was coming, so we got another positive sign.
YEEEAAAHHH….!!! We’re gonna become parents! It was such an unbelievable moment of truth.
We are having a baby!

Guess What!!!???
For weeks, no, for months I've been cracking my brians, wondering how am I suppose to do this. So I've decided to go for the straight-to-the-point, a-picture-tells-a-thousand-words theory to help me out.
YEAH I AM PREGNANT!
MISS COCO IS PREGNANT!
I can't believe that I've stepped into another phase in my life but here I am! And I'm pretty excited about it all.
Well, I know many people from where I used to work already knew or guessed that I am expecting, so this is just an official announcement. So you all can stop disturbing poor Zinc now!
I am now about 16 weeks pregnant and the baby would be due on 12 February 2009. So far Mummy & baby is doing fine and feeling good! (Can't say the same a few weeks ago)
Another thing that was delaying my announcement was that I was contemplating whether to post my baby progress in this blog or create a new one. But since I'm so lazy, I don't think I would have the energy to maintain more than one blog... Heeheehee...
I've wrote some entries on the side for the past few months, starting from a few days after I found out about my pregnancy. So I'll be posting those entries up soon. Take note of the dates so you won't get confused!
So that's another load off my shoulders for now! The truth is finally out! 3 Cheers!

There she is... finally
What... Life has been sweet, so sweet in fact, that I was SO reluctant to sit my ass in front of my very nice laptop to update my blog. Sorry lah... too relax already.
So this entry is just confirm that yes... I'm still very much alive and well, I've just been busy! Busy doing absolutely nothing! Haha... I know some people who are dying to hurt me now. Hahaha... The thing is, so much time has passed that I really don't know where do I start to update without boring the wits out of everybody reading this! So I'll just have to give the main highlights of what I've been up to for the pass month.
25 July - My last day at work!
Yup, I've packed my bags and said my last goodbyes to my job for the last 2+ years. Made alot of great friends there. Will miss-ya always! KISS!
29 July - Cleaning Up!
All those things and chores that I always put aside for "when I'm free" - DONE! I was on a cleaning rampage for a week or so, clearing stuff that I never had the time or energy to do. I cleaned up my store room and my spare room (which had became my "dumping ground" ever since we moved in). I even managed to place places to put all my desk top stuff on my study room table! Nice and pink now... :)
31 July - Visit to HortPark!
We started walking from Mount Faber and we kept walking all the way to Hort Park! Its a little boring place but it's nice to be out. We wanted to walk to the Henderson wave bridge but the sun was SO FIERCE that day that we just couldn't proceed anymore. Next time I guess...
8 Aug - Visit the folks
Went back to civilization - erm, I meant went back to office to pick up my cheque as well as visit the friends at work. Grabbed a quick lunch before heading back to my cave again. Ah... it's good to be home! Oh sis came back to Singapore for the National Day weekend!
9 Aug - Happy Birthday Singapore!
I went to the National Day Parade!!! Sis got tickets at the last minute so mum couldn't make it. So sis, dad and I went! It was so cool! It was raining but the air show and fireworks was fantastic. Pics are with sis, so will try to get them soon.
11 Aug - BYe Bye & Celebrations
Parents left for Hong Kong with sis. Not so sad this time, maybe we've been through too many farewells liao. Later in the evening we went to Lawry's for dinner to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary! Its a nice place and I had a really nice evening with my dear Cobby. Sigh so fast one year already!
That's about most of the major events that has happened for the past few weeks really. Eh actually not much hor... Haha... Actually most of the time I spend in front of my TV (mostly Olympics) and my bed.
Anyways, I'm drafting more updates! Exciting events happening everyday in the wonderous life of Miss CoCo! SO stay tuned for more folks!
